about series Two

Nazareth: Mary’s Well (or "The spring of the Virgin Mary") is reputed to be located at the site where the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would bear the Son of God - an event known as the Annunciation.  Found just below the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in modern-day Nazareth, the well was positioned over an underground spring that served for centuries as a local watering hole for the villagers. Renovated twice, once in 1967 and again in 2000, the current structure is a symbolic representation of the structure that was once in use. An underground spring in Nazareth traditionally served as the city’s main water source for several centuries (possibly millennia), however, it was not always referred to as "Mary's well" or "Mary's spring." According to the Rosicrucian Forum (1935), before the Christian era, it was known as the "spring of the guard house," so named because the few houses located by it at the time housed a number of local guards who patrolled an important highway that passed by the well.
Who is this King of Glory to dwell with us in grace?

What just happened here? At that moment Jesus stepped onto the stage that would set us free. As He read the Scriptures in their hearing the implication was clear: Jesus is the Messiah who would bring in the kingdom of God, fulfilling the promises God had made for so long. People were fascinated at His teachings and His words began to make changes in their lives. God wants to work in your life as well, not tomorrow, not next year, but right now.  God’s timing is right on, especially when we answer His call for redemption. Notice Jesus says: "TODAY."  This speaks of the urgency of the Good News. Today is not yesterday & today is not 2,000 years later.  NOW the Scripture is fulfilled! Jesus is the Living Word, the One who fulfills Scripture!

The Sea of Galilee: Why did Jesus walk on the water? To show His disciples that the very thing they feared (the sea) was only a staircase for Him to come to them. Often we fear the difficult experiences of life (such as surgery or bereavement), only to discover that these experiences bring Jesus Christ closer to us. Why did they not recognize Jesus? Because, they were not looking for Jesus. Had they been waiting by faith, they would have known Him immediately. Instead, they jumped to the false conclusion that the appearance was that of a ghost. Fear and faith cannot live in the same heart, for fear always blinds the eyes to the presence of the Lord.

Capernaum ("Nahum's hamlet") was a settlement on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. It was an important town in the time of Christ since it straddled and controlled the trade of an international highway which went from Mesopotamia to Egypt.  The site is a ruin today, but was inhabited from 150 BC to about AD 750.  The town is mentioned in the New Testament in the Gospel of Luke.  It was reported to have been the home of the apostles Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as the tax collector Matthew.

In verse 33 we find that in the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. The Bible tells us in John 16:11 that Satan thus became the “price of the world” and according to 1 John 5: 19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. This means there are two Kingdoms: the Kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness; The Kingdom of God and the kingdom of the evil one.
